I'm going to Avril Lavigne's concert!

Yes! I'm so excited! I'm going to Avril Lavigne's concert at Stadium Merdeka in Kuala Lumpur today!

The concert will start at 8.30pm but my friend and I will be there much earlier. I'm very, very excited! :D

This is Avril's second time visiting Malaysia. The first time she came here was around four years ago, in 2008. I was so sad I did not make it to her concert that time. Check out my 2008 blog post about it.

I have all four of her albums - Let Go, Under My Skin, The Best Damn Thing and Goodbye Lullaby. I have been her ardent fan since I was about 14, in 2002 when her first hit, 'Complicated' came out. Since then, I've never looked back!

Her songs are an inspiration to me. They are a comfort to me when I'm feeling down. They inspire me to be myself and to do what I want. I guess most people, especially young girls, are able to relate to her songs, most of them written by none other than her.

And now I get the chance to see her perform live! Can't wait! :)

Train - Hey, Soul Sister (Unofficial Video)

This is one of my favourite new songs now by Train. Check out all the wall-scrapbooking/collage-making which is done in the video! Did she really put all those glue right on the wall???

Boys Like Girls...and vice versa

I thought I had better get in touch with the latest music. The other day, I came across a blogger whose favourite band is Boys Like Girls. Apparently, this band is coming to Malaysia soon (not sure when) and I don't even know what songs they sing! Nah, it's not like I'm going to attend their concert. Concerts are usually held in Kuala Lumpur or Genting Highlands. They are rarely held in Penang. :(

So I visited You Tube and searched for this particular band. Ahh, seems like I've heard one of their songs, The Great Escape, on radio before. So that's what they sang. I listened to a few more of their songs on You Tube but found that The Great Escape is their nicest song.

The song 'Thunder' which is one of their ballads has great lyrics. Check out a portion of the song:

Your voice was the soundtrack of my summer
Do you know you're unlike any other?
You'll always be my thunder, and I said
Your eyes are the brightest of all the colors
I dont wanna ever love another
You'll always be my thunder
So bring on the rain
And bring on the thunder

Today is a winding road
Tell me where to start and tell me something I dont know, whoa
Today I'm on my own
I can't move a muscle and I can't pick up the phone, I don't know

And now I'm itching for the tall grass
And longing for the breeze
I need to step outside, just to see if I can breathe
I gotta find a way out
Maybe there's a way out

Some parts are cheesy but I like how they associated weather and environmental elements with feelings and emotions.

Nevertheless, they're not my favourite band. I'm just trying to keep up with the times. :)

Surprise, Surprise

Current song stuck in my head:

No Surprise by Daughtry

Like his previous singles, Over You and Home, this song had me listening to it over and over again without getting sick of it. Yet. :)

Chris Daughtry does have a voice that'll make the listener want to know who it belongs to. When I heard this song on the radio, I sat right next to it and waited for it to end and for the radio deejay to mention the song's name.

I like the chorus:

It's no surprise I won't be here tomorrow
I can't believe that I stayed till today
Yeah you and I will be a tough act to follow
But I know in time we'll find this was no surprise

Who's Going To Avril Lavigne's Concert In KL?

I'd love to go but...can't go! It's in KL (Kuala Lumpur) and I don't think any of my friends are fans of Avril. One friend even mentioned that why should we pay so much just to hear or see some celebrity? They are still people like us, after all. So, it makes no sense paying hundreds of ringgit to fight with the mad crowd gathered at the concert area.

Hmm...but it'll surely be fun to be at her concert! I have all 3 of her albums: Let Go, Under My Skin, and The Best Damn Thing. My favourite album would be her first one, Let Go but the others aren't that bad either.

Sigh...why would some people protest against her concert??? It's just music and her songs are great. Well, some are really angsty but still, it's good to listen when you wanna release your anger. Haha!

One Republic Rocks!

I want to win One Republic's CD and hence, this post. Got an email from The Star Online and that's how I got to know about this contest where I can win myself One Republic's album, Dreaming Out Loud. I fell in love with One Republic ever since I heard their song, Apologize! Their collaboration with Timbaland was awesome. :D

After that, Stop and Stare came out and I love that song too! I listen to it almost everyday. If you haven't heard it before, then check out the video clip below:

Stop and Stare - One Republic

This is the cover of their album:

One Republic is made up of Ryan Tedder (lead singer), Zach Filkins, Drew Brown, Eddie Fisher, and Brent Kutzle. So far, I've only heard 3 songs from them. Apologize, Stop and Stare, and All We Are. Their songs are a little bit different from the others. They are not really rock (you know, with electric guitars and drums banging away), maybe more mellow than rock but still, they rock! LOL!

Dreaming Out Loud is their debut album and I would really like to hear all their songs. And oh, they are coming to Malaysia in August 2008 for the MTV Asia Awards! I want to go!!! But who's gonna go with me? :(

So...what do you think of One Republic, eh? :D

You Can Listen To The Radio Online!

Hah! It never worked for me last time but now that I've tried it, it works! Yahoooo! One of my lecturers once asked my class if anyone listened to radio online. Unfortunately, as much as I'd like to raise my hand, I couldn't cos I don't listen to the radio online. I only listen to downloaded music online! Well, now if anyone asks, I can proudly say 'Yes!'.

How do you do it? Listen to the radio online. Just now I decided to check out Fly FM (I prefer this station rather than Hitz) to see if there is anything interesting. I clicked on 'Listen Online'.

Then, you'll be brought here:

You have 3 ways of listening to Fly FM online.
  1. Fly FM Radio Player 1.1
  2. Windows Media Player
  3. Quick Time Player

The URLs for you to insert in your WMA or Quick Time are given there on the page. So, just copy and paste and click 'Ok' and you're ready to listen to your favourite music online anytime, anywhere! Well, the sound quality isn't as good as a normal radio but still, it's music, you know.

Anyway, have fun!

P.S. I know the pictures are small but click on them and they'll be bigger. =)
