Wow, two Booking Through Thursday questions! Goody.
Treat
What is the best book you ever bought for yourself?
Hmm, tough one. I'm not really sure but for now, I think it'd be The Sweet Far Thing by Libba Bray.
And, why? What made it the best? What made it so special?
It's a beautiful hardback copy which I only bought for USD18 from Better World Books. It's the most expensive book I've ever bought. The pages are smooth and it's a really thick book. 75 chapters altogether!
I'm going to savour each page. It's the last book in the Gemma Doyle trilogy. :(
Generosity
Do you give books as gifts?
Yes.
To everyone? Or only to select people?
To everyone. Everyone as in my nieces and nephew.
How do you feel about receiving books as gifts?
Perfect if they're books that I'll like. My sister once gave me Diary of a Girl in Changi probably because of the girl wearing glasses on the cover. It was terribly boring. :p

The books sounds good and also that it's a good bargain! :)
ReplyDeleteMelody: Yes, I love the previous two books in the trilogy...historical fiction/young adult/school story kind of book. And yeah, it's a darn good bargain! I'm so happy to have bought it.
ReplyDeleteYour title sounds a lot better than the one I got one year - Babe: Pig in the city. Yes, there was a book on it.
ReplyDeleteMae: Hey, I have that movie! But I didn't watch it though. :/ I thought it might be boring...
ReplyDeleteYou hit on the one problem in gifting a book: the receiver might perceive it boring. Still, a book is a good gift, because just maybe it'll be a treasure.
ReplyDeleteLibba Bray is on my list for 2009. Can't wait!
ReplyDeleteWhen I buy books as gifts for others, I try to tailor the book to their taste. I appreciate it when they do the same for me.

I'd love to give books. I just don't know a lot of people who would appreciate it.
ReplyDeleteNever read Libba Bray.
ReplyDeleteHere are my BTT posts:
Booking through treat
Booking through generosity
smilingsal: Yeah, it might be quite difficult to buy a book for someone whose taste we don't know! It'll be quite tricky choosing one for them. :)
ReplyDeleteBeth F: I hope you enjoy her books like I did! Happy reading!
My Two Blessings: Yes, we should take the trouble to find out what they like! Good idea. :)
Bluestocking: Well, perhaps we should get something other than books for those we know that don't really like books. It wouldn't be a waste of money and also waste of books! :)
gautami tripathy: Haha! It's alright. You can read her books when you feel like it. They're good, for me. :)
