Intriguing Italy!

Today we'll explore Italy, shall we? Ok, get ready then!

What is the first thing that comes to your mind when you hear 'Italy'? Beautiful buildings, I hear? Yeah, that's what I think too. The Leaning Tower of Pisa? Did you know that it was closed to the public in 1990, fearing that it might eventually fall if there are too many people on it??? The official name for the leaning tower is TORRE PENDENTE DI PISA and its function is as a bell tower. Wow...I really have to go see it for real one day!

Well, what about Venice? The first thing that comes to mind is that Venice is full of water and gondolas! Oh, the Merchant of Venice by William Shakespeare comes to mind, too. My sis has the DVD but I haven't watched it yet.

What about St. Mark's Basilica? Okay, it's a monument in Venice and it's a tourist attraction but I don't know much about it. Let's do a search now.

St. Mark's Basilica

Okay, I guess it used to be a church then it was destroyed in a fire. And that's probably where St. Mark was buried.

Then, there's Rome...where the Pope is in the Vatican City. Oh, when you're in Rome, do as the Romans do, as the saying goes. =D

When you're in Rome, you might as well visit the Colosseum where gladiators once fought for fame and glory. It was built around 1920 years ago! Definitely historical.

Finally, Milan! Did I hear you shopping addicts squeal in delight??! Yup, besides London, Paris, Milan is also another place for high fashion and catwalks.

Anyway, Milan isn't all about shopping. History enthusiasts will enjoy visiting the Leonardo Da Vinci National Museum. The main attraction at the museum is the section dedicated to Leonardo as a scientist. To discover more of Leonardo Da Vinci, then visiting the museum would be a great start.

Okay then...don't want to keep you from enjoying Italy! Ciao!
