Book Giveaway: The Eye of God by James Rollins

The Eye of God by James Rollins
on Jan 28, 2014
Pages: 576
Format: Paperback

About the book:
The Eye of God finds Sigma Force on the hunt for a crashed U.S. military research satellite in the remote wilds of Mongolia. The last blurry image from the falling satellite displayed the eastern seaboard of the United States smoldering and in utter ruin.

At the same time, a mysterious package arrives at the Vatican containing two artifacts: a skull scrawled with ancient Aramaic and a tome bound in human skin. DNA confirms they both came from a single body— the long-dead Mongol king, Genghis Khan. It is up to Commander Gray Pierce, aided by a pair of Vatican historians, to discover a truth tied to the fall of the Roman Empire, to a mystery going back to the very roots of Christianity, and to a weapon hidden for centuries that holds the true fate of humanity.

Book Giveaway: When Love Never Ends by J. Alec Keaton

In today's book giveaway, three lucky followers of this blog will each receive a copy of J. Alec Keaton's debut novel, When Love Never Ends.

If you have read my previous post on what the book is about, here is your chance to win it. If not, check it out here (the blog tour which includes an interview with the author).
About the book:

Sam has never gotten over his one true love. He walked away from Sara, amidst racist threats from her bigoted father. Sam and Sara went their separate ways: Sara got married, and Sam threw himself into work, becoming a very successful lawyer for a prestigious law firm. Yet still, Sam cannot fill the Sara-shaped hole in his heart. If he could live that moment all over again, he would have never walked away.

When Love Never Ends intertwines Sam’s existence with the life of a grief-ridden college professor. Dr Jeremiah Ebenezer Pike lost his wife four years ago. Ever since, he has been obsessed with the concept of time travel, labouring over theories and experiments for years. Sam meets up with him now and again, hoping to help him move on and give up his ridiculous fantasies.

Over a decade later, Sam and Sara meet again, as Sara seeks legal help. They spend three whirlwind days together. Their future together starts to look promising, but then Sara’s jealous husband gets in the way, irrevocably separating the two with a single gunshot. Wild with grief, Sam goes to Dr Pike, desperate for some way, any way, to see Sara again. Nothing is too wild for his desperation. Not even time travel.

Though it at first seems the story of an ordinary love under ordinary, if pressing, circumstances, When Love Never Ends soon reveals itself to be an intoxicating mix of romance and science fiction — a combination that promises to be anything but ordinary. Flawlessly documenting the seemingly unrelated worlds of law, love, and loss, When Love Never Ends is as much a narrative of human experience as it is a story of love.

Book giveaway: Fiction books from Crown

*Contest is over. Thanks!*

Good news for my readers today! :) Here is a giveaway for you to enter to win any of these wonderful new books from The Crown Publishing Group.

There will be three winners! The books that are up for grabs are:

1. A Christmas Home by Greg Kincaid

2. Nutcracker by E.T.A. Hoffmann (Illustrated by Maurice Sendak and translated by Ralph Manheim)
3. Break the Skin by Lee Martin

More details on the books:

A Christmas Home by Greg Kincaid, the New York Times bestselling author of the beloved A Dog Named Christmas and its prequel Christmas with Tucker, is a heart-warming, holiday story of love and the unbreakable bond between a young man with developmental disabilities and his dog.

Todd McCray, hero of A Dog Named Christmas, as well as the Hallmark Hall of Fame movie hit, is now twenty-four years old and working at a local animal shelter, where he meets and quickly becomes best friends with Laura, a young volunteer. Life seems good for Todd, but all is not well in his hometown. Struggling families unable to make ends meet are abandoning more and more dogs and the shelter is swelling to capacity. Local governments are struggling to meet their obligations too, and in early December, on the cusp of another holiday season, Todd’s boss breaks the bad news.  Due to funding problems, the shelter will close its doors before the end of the year.  But what will happen to all the animals and where will Todd work? What will happen to his emerging relationship with Laura?
With the same reverence for classic storytelling tradition that distinguishes his last two tales, Kincaid’s A Christmas Home (on sale Oct 30, 2012) is a charming fireside read and sure to be another holiday classic.

Nutcracker by E.T.A. Hoffmann (Illustrated by Maurice Sendak and translated by Ralph Manheim), reissued a few months following Maurice Sendak’s death and on the 50th anniversary of Where the Wild Things Are, is a lush and beautifully illustrated edition that serves as a wonderful tribute to Sendak’s life at a time when his legions of fans worldwide are honoring his legacy and ballets are performing their own versions of this timeless classic.

Called “a classic, new and complete” by the New York Times Book Review, Sendak’s Nutcracker
(on sale Oct 30, 2012) brings to life Hoffmann’s mysterious world with his extraordinary illustrations, and this stunning reissue is being published just in time for the holidays.

Break the Skin: A Novel by Lee Martin – in paperback Nov 13, 2012 from Broadway Books is a new work of taut, dark, and beautifully crafted literary fiction by the author of the Pulitzer Prize finalist The Bright Forever.

Book giveaway: Before Ever After by Samantha Sotto

To my fellow readers,

Here is a chance for one of you to win a copy of Before Ever After: A Novel by Samantha Sotto.

Details of the book:

Broadway Paperbacks | May 29, 2012 |304 pages | $13.00 | 978-0-307-71988-1

Three years after her husband Max's death, Shelley feels no more adjusted to being a widow than she did that first terrible day. That is, until the doorbell rings.

Standing on her front step is a young man who looks so much like Max–same smile, same eyes, same age, same adorable bump in his nose–he could be Max's long-lost relation. He introduces himself as Paolo, an Italian editor of American coffee table books, and shows Shelley some childhood photos. Paolo tells her that the man in the photos, the bearded man who Paolo says is his grandfather though he never seems to age, is Max. Her Max. And he is alive and well.

As outrageous as Paolo's claims seem–how could her husband be alive? And if he is, why hasn't he looked her up? – Shelley desperately wants to know the truth. She and Paolo jet across the globe to track Max down–if it is really Max– and along the way, Shelley recounts the European package tour where they had met.

As she relives Max's stories of bloody Parisian barricades, medieval Austrian kitchens, and buried Roman boathouses, Shelley begins to piece together the story of who her husband was and what these new revelations mean for her "happily ever after." And as she and Paolo get closer to the truth, Shelley discovers that not all stories end where they are supposed to.

To win a copy of this book, you have to be a follower of this blog and also a US resident.

Win a copy of 'The Day the World Ends' by Ethan Coen

Here is your chance to win 'A New Book of Poetry from One of Hollywood’s Most Acclaimed Filmmakers':

The Day the World Ends by Ethan Coen

Ethan Coen’s screenplays have surprised and delighted international audiences with their hilarious vision and bizarrely profound understanding of human nature. With his brother, Joel, Coen has written, directed, and produced some of the most original and beloved movies in the history of cinema, including Raising Arizona; Miller’s Crossing; Barton Fink; The Hudsucker Proxy; Fargo; The Big Lebowski; O Brother, Where Art Thou?; Intolerable Cruelty; an adaptation of Cormac McCarthy’s No Country for Old Men; Burn After Reading; and—most recently—True Grit, which was nominated for ten Academy Awards.

Coen has also written collections of critically acclaimed plays (Almost an Evening), short stories (Gates of Eden), and poetry (The Drunken Driver Has the Right of Way), all presented in his distinctly humorous and oddly brilliant literary voice.

Coen’s eccentric genius is revealed again in The Day the World Ends (Broadway Paperbacks Original, on sale April 3, 2012), a collection of poems that offers humor and provides insight into an artist who has always pushed the boundaries of his craft. The Day the World Ends is a remarkable range of poems that are as funny, ribald, provocative, raw, and often touching as the brilliant films that have made the Coen brothers cult legends.

Short, accessible, and nearly the same price as a movie ticket, this new poetry collection is a perfect treat for Coen’s legions of fans.

About the author: When not writing plays, poetry, or short stories, Ethan Coen makes movies with his brother, Joel Coen. After thirteen films, the Coen brothers have one of the most beloved and critically acclaimed bodies of work in the history of cinema.

Book Giveaway - First Daughter and Blood Trust

To win a copy of First Daughter or Blood Trust by Eric Van Lustbader, please fill in the form below.

FILL IN THIS FORM.

Open to residents of US and Canada only.
Contest ends June 8, 2011.

About First Daughter (from Amazon):

In this uneven thriller from bestseller Lustbader (The Bourne Legacy), Alli Carson, the 19-year-old daughter of the U.S. president-elect, moderate Republican Edward Carson, is abducted a month before her father's inauguration to be programmed to do something truly terrible at the inauguration ceremony. ATF agent Jack McClure is chosen to lead the search for Alli, primarily because she was the boarding-school roommate of his now-deceased daughter, Emma. Jack faces many difficulties, chief among them his own severe dyslexia. The unnamed current president, who makes religion the basis for all his decisions, wants to use the search as an excuse for all-out war on his enemies, the First American Secular Revivalists and their secret partners, the E-Two terrorist group. Lustbader does a fine job depicting the search for Alli and reconstructing Jack's past, but the confusing political message will leave many readers wondering what the book was really about. (Aug.)

About Blood Trust (from Amazon):

Alli Carson has been through her own personal hell. With her father, the President of the United States, recently dead and her mother in a coma from a terrible accident, she has poured herself into her training to become one of the best FBI agents at the Fearington Institute. Her inspiration and solace comes from the one man with whom she has ever felt a kinship, National Security Adviser, Jack McClure. But when Alli becomes the prime suspect in a murder at Fearington, a wide ranging investigation is triggered, involving local homicide detectives, the secret service, the FBI itself, and Alli’s own uncle, the billionaire lobbyist Henry Carson. And yet nothing is what it seems.

What follows is a treacherous journey that leads Jack and Alli into a complex web of lies and deceit. Using Jack’s unique gifts to see the through the labyrinth of manipulation, their investigation leads them into the dark heart of the international slave trade, tied to a powerful Albanian crime lord whose ability and influence in global terrorism grows with each day.

The two find themselves in the crosshairs of vast global enterprise, one that lurks in the shadows of power and has infiltrated Washington and their lives in ways neither of them could ever have imagined. And hidden deep among it all sits a terrifying criminal mastermind, someone fueled by a hatred that can never be quenched, and a mind that knows neither feeling nor mercy.

About the author:

Eric Van Lustbader is the author of more than 25 international bestsellers, including The Ninja and the four most recent Jason Bourne novels: The Bourne Legacy, The Bourne Betrayal, The Bourne Sanction, and The Bourne Deception. Book Giveaway #1

Yeah, you heard me right. I'm going to give away a book for free. For now, it's only eligible to those living in Malaysia.

The book I'm offering is 50 Ways to Hex Your Lover by Linda Wisdom. Go on and read my review on my other blog! I got this book for free and now I'm going to give it away. It's only been read once. So, who's gonna say no to a free book? :)

All you need to do is leave a comment on this post before Friday, July 4, 2008 at 11.59p.m.. If I'm not asleep yet at midnight on Friday, I'll pick a winner there and then! What I'm going to do is write down the participants' names on pieces of paper, roll them up and just randomly pick one. Ohhhh, I love this kind of game! Haha!

Okay then, good luck to you! :D
